Wanneroo Folk Club
2nd Friday of the Month

Friday 11th March
Dorchester community Hall Cnr of Dorchester and Dugdale st Warwick.
featuring Chris Matthews.
He’s not country, or folk, or bluegrass, or rock ‘n roll, or roots, but he’s somehow all of them all at the same time.
Chris Matthews returns to the road in 2016 as part of his Australia wide tour to promote his 3rd album “Ten Tales From Ghost Gum”. After a huge year in 2015, performing nearly 200 shows in every corner of the country, playing Tamworth, the Airlie Beach Festival and Gympie Muster, and jumping on stage with Luke O’Shea, the Bob Corbett Band, and The Hillbilly Goats just to name a few, the award winning guitarist/singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist is back with a new album and a swag of new songs and stories. And with slots at the Fairbridge Festival, The Kimberley Moon Experience, Palm Creek (QLD) and Black Mountain (QLD) Festivals already locked in for 2016, as well as continuing his residency at the world renowned El Questro Wilderness Park for the 11th year in a row, this year is already shaping up to be just as big.
Well known for his epic 3-4 hour sets, a gargantuan stage presence, and a dexterity on the fretboard that leaves audiences shaking their heads in wonder, as well as a bucketload of energy as a solo artist that puts a lot of bands to shame, Matthews is one heck of a performer. And whether it be on 6 or 12 string acoustic guitars, mandolin, banjo, or lap steel, rest assured - you probably haven’t seen someone play quite as uniquely or as boisterous as he can.
Having supported acts such as Lee Kernaghan, Sara Storer, Adam Harvey, the Hoodoo Gurus, Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, Blue Shaddy, John Butler, Chris can match it with the best of them. And whether it be playing one of his own compositions, or taking songs from artists as diverse as Johnny Cash, Richard Thompson, Jeff Lang, Elton John (true!) or The Beatles, one thing is for sure – he does them all in fine fashion and in his own way, and has found something that has become a rarity these days – his own voice.
Music Starts at 8pm Admission $10.00 and $8.00 for WAFF Members/Conc.
